USDA Secretary's Annual Honor Award to Glen Hartman and Monte Miles.
- Lab members were proud to learn that Glen Hartman and Monte Miles would be among the recipients of the
2006 USDA Secretary's Annual Honor Awards for their contributions and service to the USDA soybean rust sentinel program. The awards were presented in Washington on October 20, 2006. The Honor Awards are the most prestigious awards presented by USDA. Congratulations!

- Dr. David Voegtlin (UIUC, Dept. of Natural Resources and Environmental Science, far left) brought his Japanese colleagues by this week to see Curt Hill's (far right) soybean aphid experiments.

Lab welcomes new grad students
- Eugenia Tang, David Strutz and Andy Zundo (left to right) join the lab as grad students this semester. Eugenia will work on the toxicity bioassay for Fusariam solani f. sp. glycines, the causal organism of soybean sudden death syndrome . David and Andy will work on projects related to resistance to soybean rust and soybean aphid, respectively. We look forward to their contributions in these areas. Welcome!

Dr. Nguyen Binh arrives as part of soybean rust project.
- Dr. Nguyen Binh arrives to the lab to assist soybean rust research and learn new techniques. She comes from VAAS Hanoi, Vietnam and will stay until 12-06. Welcome!
